There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it.
You surround yourself with people who make you laugh.
Forget the bad, and focus on the good.
Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't.
Life is too short to be anything but happy.
Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.

The Best Cookies

These cookies are the best!  They puff up nicely, are light and delicious.  They are particularly good with milk, although coffee or tea would make a great substitute.  I recommend using them for bribing kiddos or changing moods of cranky spouses.  Enjoy!

2 1/4 c all purpose flour
1 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
1 c softened butter or margarine
3/4 c sugar
3/4 c packed brown sugar
2 t vanilla
2 large eggs
1 1/2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 c chopped pecans
1/3 c dried cranberries

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.  Stir together flour, baking soda and salt and set aside.
In another bowl, cream together butter, sugar and brown sugar.  Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time until incorporated.  Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, until incorporated.
Stir in chocolate, nuts and cranberries.
Drop by tablespoon onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool and enjoy!

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Yesterday I had a major craving for a latte, and denied myself the indulgence.  Don't ask why, I'm not sure really either.  A friend told me that coffee prevents people from killing other people, and that I should get one before someone got hurt, but I just didn't do it.  I think it was because it was the first 90+ degree day and I didn't really want to leave the house to go get a hot coffee.

Anyway, my resolve was not nearly as strong today.  The kiddo and I headed out early this morning.  Early enough to beat the heat and get a breakfast of hotcakes and sausage at a favorite fast-food joint.  And there I gave into the craving.  Granted it was far from gourmet, but it certainly did hit the spot.  And that means that the general population should be safe for another day.

I am also resisting the urge to cast-on these socks.  I love everything about them (so far- as I can only see them in pieces).  The picot edge, the anklet length, the heel, even the patterning.  I think it will be my next project, as I have a test knit that I need to be focusing on currently.  I definitely have a case of the starts, and that is an indulgence that is hard to ignore!
